-There was a war revolution in Russia to get rid of the Tsar in 1917.
-There was chaos after the revolution.
-There was a provisional government. & the opposing party was the Bolsheviks led by Lenin.
-Lenin didn't want Stalin to be the head of the party knowing that Lenin himself's gonna die.
-The Bolsheviks party is a communist party.
-Stalin & Trotsky was competing, but the USSR (name changed from Russia to USSE after the Tsar was gotten rid of) supported Trotsky because he was the planner, like Lenin's right hand.
-Lenin died in 1924, Stalin purposely gave Trotsky the wrong date of the funeral & by the time he arrived, it was too late.
-Stalin used that as an advantage. He manipulated the date of the funeral & use propaganda to tell the world that hey, Trotsky is not faithful to Lenin, don't even wanna come for the funeral.
-Stalin managed to kill Trotsky, Kaminev & Zinoviev.
-Stalin was the General Secretary & Editor of the communist party newspaper which gave him a great oppotunity to rise to power to take over the USSR.
-General Secretary was just a step lower than the head leader which was Lenin's position before he died.
-4 years later, he managed to rise to power & became to head.

-5 year-plan, controlling the workers that they have to work for the government.
-Collectivisation rule introduced. There were people resisting because it'll be at their lost.
-Stalin used fear/terror that anyone that goes against him or gossip, they'll be executed.
-Show trials, purges, labour camps, finding the opposition.
-He used propaganda to control the people.

AHHHH! HISTORY!
I squeezed all that out of my brain lah. Now no more on Stalin, it's all about Hitler this time!
